DESCRIPTION

The route will cover a distance in the range of 35-40km and involves 3000m of ascent and 3000m of descent.

Starting from the centre of Les Houches we will climb on single track trails to the Col De Voza from where we will pick up(for a short period) the summer jeep trail to the top of the Prarion lift station. From the lift station it is up and along the stunning Prarion ridge line and descending to the Col de la Forclaz on some steep technical trails. From the Col de la Forclaz the route contours around the mountainside on lovely single track terrain with lots of little climbs and descents until you come to the little hamlet of Bionnassay. From here t
he trail go to Mont Verassay by Chalets du Miage and Col Tricot.

Next takes you right up below the stunning Glacier de Bionnassay which you will then skirt alongside and climb up to Nid d'Aigle. With Mont Blanc towering high above it is now time to descend and from Nid d'Aigle at 2372m in altitude it is nearly a 1400m descent back down towards Les Houches via Col du Mt Lachat on some steep and fun technical trails. The entire Chamonix Valley will open out in front of you as you descend back into Les Houches and after a very short road section you will arrive back where you began.

The majority of the route is on lovely rolling single track trails however there is some steep trails and also a short section with ladders near the Glacier de Bionnassay. The route does not require any rock climbing skills but a good head for heights and solid foot work is a must on some very short sections. The route reaches an altitude of 2372m and although this altitude should not cause anybody serious problems it should be taken into consideration that this may affect performance a little on the day so we do advise a little bit of time running at 2000m or above before the run if possible
